It's Never too Late
When I first met Esther in August 2000, she was on a path of loosing teeth every few months. By 2002, she had lost all her teeth and was forced to wear dentures. She shared with us how fearful and embarrassed she would be for people to see her dentures wobbling when she ate or talked. In December of 2004, she decided to have us place implants to anchor teeth that she would brush right in her mouth (implant supported fixed bridges). A few months later, and with only one surgical visit, she had teeth that were secured to her implants, and would never decay.
Most of my elderly patients that are missing teeth are fearful that implants will not work on them because "they are too old". I tell them age has nothing to do with it. Your attitude, stamina, budget and health do. Esther is perfectly healthy. She takes no medicine and has no medical problems, not bad for 90+ (she won't tell us how old she is!). |
